From The EAST

Dear Brethren:

First of all I want to thank all the Brothers who attended the Installation of the 2002 Officers on December 29th. We had a little over a hundred people attend with the Masons and many of my personal friends and relatives. I am so appreciative of all the people who came. We had a wonderful buffet - thanks to my wife and our children who worked very hard to prepare and clean up! Thanks also to the Eastern Star for providing the delicious sheet cake. I know everyone enjoyed it. I am also so pleased and honored that we had so many dignitaries. It was a great event and I know all the newly installed officers and their families and guests had a wonderful time.

Now down to the business of the "New Year" !! I am looking forward to working with our great group of officers. I have a superb team to work with. One of my top priorities this coming year is to increase attendance at our meetings. I would like to have all the ladies (wives, girlfriends, widows...) of our members, plus the ladies of our sister organizations join us for dinner prior to our stated meetings (second and fourth Tuesdays of the month). They can socialize while we have our meeting and then we can all get together afterwards for coffee and dessert. I also plan to have "bring a Brother to dinner" nights when those of us who attend meetings regularly make a point of calling those Brothers whom we haven't seen for a while, and inviting them - even offer to pick them up! I think some of our older Brothers would appreciate a ride - which would enable many to join us, who otherwise are unable to attend. I also think that some of the Brothers who live far from the Lodge would attend if there was a possibility of riding with someone. Let me say, at this time, that any time a Brother needs a ride he can always call the Lodge (813-876-9179) and arrangements will be made.

I am eager to get to work. I look forward to and will appreciate constructive input from my Brothers. I know with the cooperation and attendance of all the Brothers we will have a successful and enjoyable year.

Fraternally,

Gary L. Payne WM

From The WEST

Well here we are in the year 2002, I hope we will all have a healthy and profitable new year. Our newly elected Master is looking for a new year of having a lot of new members. I think we should all be looking to our neighbors, friends at work and if you like your relatives ask them one time for all. If I can help anyone, I will be more than happy to offer my services to help.

William G. Stuart SW

From The SOUTH

We were Glad to see the attendance at the 3RD Saturday breakfast. As usual the ladies support was great. Thanks for Your support. It was disappointing that not many of the lodge brothers participated. We really need all the support for the benefit of the children.

The 5TH Tuesday’s (Family Night). Come and enjoy refreshments, fellowship, & meet Our District Deputy Grand Master, Scott McCallister.

As usual it will be a covered dish affair. The lodge will offer the main

course.

Fraternally,

Chuck Hamm JW

From The Secretaries Desk

I would like to thank all the brothers who elected me to a third term as your secretary. Having watched this slate of officers grow into what they are now has been a treat. It will be a pleasure working with them this year.

Brothers, we are losing members faster than we can initiate new members. We lost 18 to deaths, and 2 demitted to other lodges. On the other hand we initiated 4 new members into our ranks. Also we are having more members reach that 50 year member status and no longer have to pay dues. Grand Lodge still charges us percapita tax on all active members, which are presently at just over 400. We would like to encourage all 50 year members to consider a perpetual membership for dues exempt members, and the families of our deceased brothers to consider a memorial perpetual membership. Perpetual memberships bring money into the lodge forever and is a good way to memorialize a deceased member.

For perpetual membership information and questions feel free to call me at 813-918-2245 and I will be glad to answer you questions.

Brethren, if you have an e-mail address please let us know what it is so we can add it to your file. Also if you would like to have your family give you a Masonic service when you die please let us know so we can note that in you file too.

Trestle boards will be available on the Lodges’s web site at www.fellowship265.org
